EFF names Wonderful Segolodi as Mogale City mayoral candidate

The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) in Gauteng has announced Fighter Wonderful Segolodi as its mayoral candidate for Mogale City Local Municipality ahead of the Local Government Elections scheduled for 4 November 2026.

The party said Segolodi’s selection reflects its commitment to fielding leaders with strong community roots, governance experience and a proven record of public service. According to the EFF, she has spent her life living and serving in Kagiso, giving her first-hand knowledge of the challenges facing residents of Mogale City.

Segolodi joined the EFF in 2013 and has since held several leadership positions within the organisation. Her roles have included Branch Coordinator, Regional leader, Election Coordinator, West Rand Regional Treasurer, Proportional Representation Councillor, Member of the Mayoral Committee for Health and Social Development, and currently Sub-Regional Secretary of the EFF in Mogale City.

The party highlighted her qualifications in ethics and accountability, political leadership, oversight functions and gender mainstreaming, saying they complement more than a decade of experience in municipal governance, organisational leadership and community development.

Among her achievements in public office, the EFF credited Segolodi with helping establish a homeless shelter, an elderly care centre in Kagiso, community food gardens and programmes supporting senior citizens. She has also led HIV/AIDS and gender-based violence awareness initiatives, facilitated the construction of a home for a youth-headed household, and supported learners through annual back-to-school campaigns and higher education assistance programmes.

The statement further noted that Segolodi received the 2024 South African Local Government Association (SALGA) Award for the Most Responsive and Proactive Team on Gender-Based Violence and Femicide, as well as the 2024 Multilingual Service Delivery Award, recognising her work in promoting inclusive communication and responsive governance.

The EFF said Segolodi possesses the leadership, integrity and municipal experience needed to lead Mogale City and improve service delivery. The party has called on residents to support her candidature in the upcoming municipal elections, pledging to prioritise reliable services, opportunities for young people and the protection of vulnerable communities.
