Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi has handed over newly completed houses to qualifying beneficiaries in Jabulani, Soweto, as the provincial government intensifies efforts to accelerate housing delivery and address the demand for decent accommodation.
Lesufi, accompanied by Gauteng MEC for Human Settlements Tasneem Motara, officially handed over the houses at the Jabulani Parcel K Mega Project on Wednesday morning.
The handover forms part of the Gauteng Provincial Government’s ongoing housing delivery programme, aimed at providing qualifying residents with secure homes while restoring dignity to families in need of adequate housing.
According to the provincial government, the initiative represents another milestone in its commitment to improving living conditions and ensuring that completed housing units are allocated to eligible beneficiaries.
The government has also emphasised the importance of preventing unlawful occupation of housing developments, which can disrupt the allocation process and delay access for intended beneficiaries.

The Jabulani Parcel K Mega Project forms part of the province’s efforts to expand access to formal housing, particularly in communities where demand for affordable accommodation remains a challenge.
The provincial government maintains that accelerating housing delivery remains a priority as it works to provide secure homes to qualifying residents.
Wednesday’s handover also highlighted the government’s stated commitment to ensuring that housing developments benefit the people for whom they were intended. The latest handover comes as the provincial government continues its efforts to improve access to housing and address the accommodation needs of communities across Gauteng.
