Lesufi, Mogale City Mayor switch on transformer in Rietvallei

Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi and Mogale City Executive Mayor Lucky Sele have overseen the switching on of a transformer in Rietvallei Extension 1 on Thursday afternoon, as part of the provincial government’s Operation Khanyisa iGauteng initiative.

The transformer switch-on forms part of the government’s efforts to improve access to electricity and strengthen electricity infrastructure in communities across the province.

The initiative, driven under the banner “Let’s Light Our Bright Future,” seeks to address electricity access challenges and improve the reliability of power supply in Gauteng communities.

The programme also highlights cooperation between provincial and local government in addressing energy-related service delivery needs.

Electricity infrastructure remains an important component of economic development and community well-being, particularly in residential areas where access to reliable power is essential for households and small businesses.

The transformer switch-on is expected to mark a step towards improving electricity access in the Rietvallei community.

This programme also features Eskom and City Power among the organisations associated with the initiative, which highlights the role of electricity service providers in supporting energy infrastructure programmes.
